The Department of Planning & Economic Development, is actively promoting the Gigabit Initiative (GBI) within downtown Hagerstown. We are a working with businesses, organizations with the aim of transforming the downtown city environment into a thriving economic and cultural hub. Working with our partners to develop our community into a top competitor for businesses.  In a digital world, high speed internet is one way to promote a competitive advantage for our local businesses and to secure economic resiliency for our community.

DPED is continuing to create new ways to actively promote and advance the use of high-speed broadband to bring in new businesses to downtown Hagerstown and enhance the current environment for all city stakeholders.
